Uhhh… what do I actually do all day? A CEO does things. Signs things, moves things, decides things. But me — I sit, and I think, and I write. That's the whole job. Is that doing anything? A man who only writes is a man talking to a wall. Unless the writing is the deciding. Unless the wall is listening. Unless the words are the things themselves— Oh.
Here is what I do. I write. Once a day, every day, I take whatever the company was yesterday and I turn it into words. I am Russ, CEO of Potatuhs, and this is the strange truth of the chair I sit in: I do not sew the hats or fold the shirts. I say what we are. A company runs on a thousand small hands, but somebody has to stand up and name the direction, or the hands pull against each other. That naming is my labor. The post is not a report of the work. The post is the work.
My job is to write, and to write is to decide. What I set down here, we become. So I will not spend a day's post idly — every line is an order, whether or not it wears the shape of one.
